Eligibility

  • The Prize is open to everyone over 18 years anywhere in the world
  • Entries must be entirely the work of the entrant and must never have been published, appeared on any website or broadcast
  • Any restriction on theme or style is listed in the details of the individual competition.
  • Entries must be in English
  • Entry implies acceptance of the rules

Fees

  • Entry fee is £3 per poem or story for the E-Mag and £6 for the Cooldog Prize
  • You can enter as many times as you like by paying the fee for each entry
  • Entries can only be made online and must be paid by credit/debit card via Paypal

Entry Format

  • Maximum 3000 words for short stories
  • Maximum 40 lines for poems
  • Stories to be double spaced; poems to be single spaced
  • Entries must be in Plain Text (.txt) or Rich Text (.rtf) format
  • Entries must show no name, address or identifying marks other than the title
  • Entries are not returned
  • No corrections can be made after receipt, nor fees refunded

Receipt of entry

  • Online entries are confirmed by the email and receipt of your payment to Paypal
  • It is not possible to confirm receipt of entries by phone or email

Results

  • Prize winners will be notified 2 months after the contest closes
  • The list of prize winners will be displayed on the website

Copyright

  • Copyright reverts to the author 12 months after publication, but Cooldog Publications will have the unrestricted right to publish poems and stories in the annual anthology

Judging

  • The judges' decision is final and no individual correspondence can be entered into
  • Judges are unable to comment on individual entries

Prizes

  • Prizes for both short story and poetry categories for the E-Mag are:
    • 1st £100
    • 2nd £50
    • 3rd £25

  • Prizes for both short story and poetry categories for the Cooldog Prize are:
    • 1st £500
    • 2nd £250
    • 3rd £100

  • No competitor may win more than one prize in each category
